In this article I want to tell you how to make a salad "Ruby coat". This dish is perfect for any festive table. Salad is prepared from herring, potatoes, beets with mayonnaise. Something like the classic version of the “coat”. However, this dish stands out among the rest for its exquisite and unique taste.



Thanks to the beautiful design, this salad becomes the most important favorite of the table. In addition, each hostess has its own cooking option. Therefore, there is a large field for experiments.



Salad ingredients
  • 250 grams of potatoes
  • 250 grams of boiled grated beets
  • 250 grams of boiled grated carrots
  • 5 boiled eggs
  • 70 grams of onions
  • 200–250 grams of mayonnaise


Ingredients for marinade
  • 150 ml of hot water
  • 20 grams of sugar
  • 15 ml of lemon juice (or vinegar)


Jelly ingredients
  • 100 grams of boiled grated beets
  • 350 ml of hot water for beets
  • 25 grams of gelatin
  • 150 ml of cold water for gelatin
  • pinch


Preparation
  1. Boiled potatoes rub on a small grater, put in a bowl and add a tablespoon of mayonnaise to it, mix thoroughly. In a separate bowl (or bowl) add grated eggs and one spoonful of mayonnaise. Stir the ingredients thoroughly.



  2. In another bowl we put grated boiled carrots. We add a tablespoon of mayonnaise to it and also mix thoroughly. We do the same with boiled beets - all these ingredients are needed for each individual layer.



  3. Finely slice the onion and marinate it, adding sugar, lemon juice and hot water. Leave the onions to marinate for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, we cut the herring into small cubes. After that, you can begin to form a salad in a special round form.



  4. We take herring fillets and cut them in cubes. The first will be a layer of herring, on top of it we add onions. Then we put a layer of potatoes, then carrots. Each layer is carefully distributed using a spoon or spatula. Then we lay a layer of eggs, and on top of it a layer of beets.



We cover the layer with food film and send it to the refrigerator for 2 hours. In the meantime, we will do the jelly: pour gelatin with cold water, stir it and leave it to swell for 15 minutes. Take 100 grams of grated boiled beets and pour it with hot water to slightly less than half the capacity. Then add gelatin and stir until completely dissolved.



Add a pinch of salt to the jelly, stir again and filter through a sieve. We will also need a rectangular shape for jelly. We pour jelly mass there - it should be distributed so that a uniform layer with a height of 0.5 cm is obtained. Send the jelly to the refrigerator for 1.5-2 hours.



We take out our salad from the fridge, remove the shape and on top, as well as on the sides, lubricate with mayonnaise. Do not lubricate too generously - mayonnaise is already in every layer. So you have to take a little bit. Then we take out the jelly and cut it into small cubes. These “rubines” decorate the salad from all sides – look at the picture below. Our dish is ready!





By the way, this salad is also called “ruby placer”. All because of the unusual design in the form of jelly cubes. In addition, this salad will please with its extraordinary, savory and rich taste. This dish is definitely worth the time spent and can effectively surprise guests.
