Naan — traditional Indian flatbread

The traditional recipe of Indian naan bread it does not include any animal products (unless, of course, is not to pour ready-made cakes with butter). Also suitable for vegans.





Ingredients (6-8 pancakes):

  • Coconut flour — 2 DL (about 145 g)
  • Psyllium (flour) — 2 tbsp or bran — 2,5 tbsp
  • Salt — 1 tsp
  • Baking powder — 1,5 tsp
  • Coconut oil — 100 ml
  • Water — 500 ml
  • Coconut oil for frying
The tortillas (optional):

  • Butter — 100 g
  • Garlic — 2-3 cloves
  • Sea salt
  • Greens ((parsley or cilantro)
Preparation:

1. Heat water to a boil, melt the coconut oil.

2.Mix all the dry ingredients. Add the melted coconut oil, stir, pour boiling water again and quickly and carefully stir until smooth.

3. Leave the dough to cool and infuse for 7-10 minutes. It must be very dense, almost like clay.

4.Divide the dough into 6-8 pieces and roll them out flat balls. Mash the balls with your hands into a thin pellet. Fry tortillas in a pan in coconut oil for a few minutes on each side on a mild fire. Finished cakes put on a plate and put them in a preheated 70 ° C oven so they stay warm.

5.Melt the butter. If you want, mix it with finely chopped garlic. With a brush, brush tortillas with melted butter. Can sprinkle with large sea salt and finely chopped greens. The remaining oil, pour into a gravy boat and serve with bread for him to dip.





In this recipe you can use and neutral coconut oil and Extra Virgin — it all depends on whether you want them to have a light scent and taste of coconut or not.
