Christmas carp baked with potatoes

Christmas is approaching, and that means that every Czech family Housewives have baked traditional Czech cookies and thinking about holiday menu on Christmas Eve. The main dish on this day in the Czech Republic is fish, primarily carp.

Already talking about traditions, however, "in the Christmas culinary fashion" carp in the Czech Republic included only 50-60 years ago. Until, somewhere in the beginning of the XIX century, fish in the Czech families appeared only on the table of the rich or in the regions where carp and trout are grown in ponds. The recipes were passed down orally cooks. For the first time in the printed version of the recommendation on cooking it Christmas carp dishes appeared in 1924.

In the Czech Republic popular schnitzel from carp fried in breadcrumbs, served to the table with potato salad. But experimenting Czech housewife is not enough, so the fish Christmas recipes every year becomes more and more.

You can, for example, carp roast and bake along with potatoes and sweet cream. And it is quite simple.





1. First, you need to do potatoes. Approximately one kilogram of potatoes, clean and cut the petals with a thickness of 1 centimeter. Lay the potatoes on a well-smeared with oil baking sheet, add salt, sprinkle with cumin and close the aluminum foil and bake for about 30 minutes.

2. In between prepare the fish. In the Czech Republic Housewives prefer to choose carp, which weigh up to 3 kilos of fish is not too greasy. Clean carp, remove the skin, remove the head, which can then be used for soup, put inside 100 grams of butter, on top sprinkle with pepper and cumin.

3. And now it's time to pull out of the oven potatoes.

4. Take off the foil, the potatoes will be pulled to the sides and in the middle put the fish. Still a little salt, cover the carp with potatoes, re-cover with foil and put the pan back in the oven for another half an hour.

5. The dish is almost ready. Now only left the pan again, remove from the oven, remove the foil, pour the fish and chips with a glass of sweet cream and not covering, dopekat for another 20 minutes.





Ready! Set on the table plates and you can feast.
