The opinion of the expert—fruits and vegetables will not help to lose weight

According to the results of recent studies, a diet of plant foods, will not necessarily lead to weight loss, especially if fruits and vegetables aren't replacing high-calorie foods in the human diet.

Scientists from the University of Alabama at Birmingham reviewed previous studies that have investigated the relationship of fruit and vegetable consumption and weight reduction. Dr. Kathryn Kaiser, commented on the findings: "We can't say with a high degree of confidence that some fruits / vegetables can have a significant impact on weight loss or prevent its increase. Everywhere, in all studies, we saw almost zero effect on weight loss".

Experts believe that increased consumption of fruits and vegetables must be accompanied by other lifestyle changes: more physical activity. Kaiser explains: "In the overall context of a healthy diet, energy reduction is the way to lose weight: to reduce weight, you should reduce the intake of calories. But our conclusions from the available data show that the effect is not present in people, simply increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in the diet".
