How to cook a fried barley

Due to the undeserved image of “food of the poor”, the need for a long cook or by association with army porridge “shot-16”, many of our hostess continue to stubbornly ignore the extremely useful and affordable pearl cereal.





We have repeatedly written about this unfortunate situation, talked about unusual barley dishes and shared the secrets of its preparation.





Today. "Site" offer barley with vegetables, which are happy to eat even those who do not tolerate the usual pearl porridge.

How to prepare barley ingredients
  • 200g barley
  • 2 sweet peppers
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 bulbs
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • salt, pepper and spicy herbs to taste
  • vegetable-oil


Preparation
  1. Clean the seeds and the pepper partitions. Cut it into slices.


  2. Send to the oven to bake for 20-30 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a clean pan and pour washed and dried barley.

  4. Roasting stirring until a pleasant caramel color and a light nutty smell.
  5. Pour into the roasted cereal two glasses of boiling water, salt, cover with a lid and boil until ready 25-30 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, finely chop and roast to softness the onions and carrots.


  7. Clean the chilled peppers from the skins and cut in cubes. Once barley is cooked, mix it with pepper, onions and carrots.
  8. Add a couple cloves of crushed garlic and some greens.
