Benefits of apples for your health

Another benefit from Apple a day English proverb "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" ("Eat in day on Apple – and the doctor will be unnecessary") has received another confirmation.

Scientists from the University of Kaiserslautern (Germany) have found that Apple pectin and Apple juice contain significant amounts of such short-chain fatty acids like butyrate. The latter not only maintains the good condition of the tissue of the colon, but, as the researchers found, prevents the development of colon cancer by blocking enzymes that promote tumor development.

Cancer of the colon and rectum is the fourth most common form of cancer in the world. He noted in 12.6% of all cancer patients men and 14.1% of women in Western countries.

Many researchers believe that it is caused by nutritional problems such as lack of fruit and vegetables in the daily diet. Practical advice to scientists is to eat at least one small Apple a day (the equivalent of the daily value).

And although the world has more than 7500 varieties of apples, scientists suggest to use apples grown in this particular area.
