Grandchildren are asked to tell how we lived when there was no Internet, I am preparing a dish to meet with them

Not many will dare to argue with the fact that grandmother's homemade recipes are always better than any foreign frills. That there is only one festive potato pig with meat filling!

Of course, you will have to spend a good hour and a half with it, and at the end you also need to decorate with fresh vegetables, but what a gorgeous dish it turns out in the end!

Just look at how skillfully the chef from the BurMikS YouTube channel prepared it!

Doubt if you can repeat his success? But we are sure that with such detailed instructions you will be able to make an even prettier and more appetizing pig!

So shall we try?

Homemade Grandma's Recipes Ingredients
  • 1.5 kg potatoes
  • 0.5 kg minced meat
  • 1 small carrot
  • 50 mg butter
  • 200 g canned mushrooms
  • 1 small onion
  • 200 g hard cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • a bunch of fresh herbs
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • salt to taste
  • paprika to taste
  • hops-suneli to taste
  • 100 g bread crumbs
  • 70 ml vegetable oil

Preparation
  1. The first step is to boil the potatoes and crush them into mashed potatoes. There is no need to add butter and milk, since for further work we need a tenacious consistency. So add only black pepper and salt. Then we set aside the potatoes to cool.

  2. In the meantime, the mashed potatoes get cold, let's start preparing the filling. Peel the onions and carrots and cut into small cubes. We send the resulting vegetable mixture to be fried in heated vegetable oil. Then add minced meat, spices and salt to the pan, stir and fry the mixture for 5 minutes over medium heat. Next, add the chopped mushrooms and fry everything until all the moisture has evaporated.

  3. Then grease a baking sheet with a piece of butter and pour the breadcrumbs into the middle. Put the mashed potatoes on top of them and form a boat - the basis for the piglet.

  4. Next, you need to grate the cheese with straws, chop the herbs and mix these ingredients with our minced meat (which should have also cooled down by this time). Then we put the filling in the boat, tamp it and seal up the edges of the base. And then we lay out the top potato layer, pressing it down and shaping the body of the piglet.

  5. At the end, add some potatoes along the edges, forming the legs and from the top of the same puree we make a pig's tail. Ears and a patch can also be sculpted from potatoes, or you can get creative and add your own ingredients. It remains only to grease the finished pig with egg yolks, beaten with salt and paprika, and send to bake in an oven preheated to 220 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

We look forward to receiving updates on your progress in preparing this intricate dish. In the meantime, we say goodbye and wish you a wonderful day, see you soon!
