Dry jam from peaches according to the recipe of the Georgian hostess

August is the perfect time to prepare delicious and healthy fruit sweets. So the recipe for dry jam this month will certainly be useful for diligent hostesses.

It is not a problem if the preparation of such sweets is new to you. The editorial board. "Site" I have prepared detailed instructions on how to make this wonderful treat for tea.

Recipe for dry jam Ingredients
  • 1kg peaches
  • 500 ml of water
  • 1 kg of sugar
  • 1 orange

Preparation
  1. First of all, thoroughly wash the peaches and dry them with paper towels. If desired, you can peel the fruit from the skin, but this is not necessary. Then we cut the peaches into the middle pieces. Too small is not worth it, as in the process of drying they will still decrease.

  2. When you finish preparing the fruit, proceed to preparing the syrup. Take a small pot and fill it with clean water. Then squeeze and add orange juice to the water, and pour sugar into the pan. Next, put the resulting mixture on a small fire and bring to a boil. After that, boil by stirring the syrup for a few more minutes until the sugar completely dissolves.

And when the syrup is ready, pour it with peaches and leave the fruit in the syrup for 1-1.5 hours (during this time, the syrup should already completely cool).

  3. After the necessary time, remove the peaches from the container with syrup and move them to the fruit dryer. If there is no special device, an ordinary pan, lined with parchment, is also suitable.

  4. Further, candied fruits must be dried in a special dryer or oven at a temperature of 65 degrees. This process usually lasts about 8 hours. For all the time, you should check and turn the pieces of peaches 3-4 times.

  5. If the candied fruit is not prepared for long storage, you can dry them for only 4 hours, then the fruit will be softer and juicier. However, harvesting large batches of dry jam, you should dry them well, so that in the process of further storage they do not ferment from the excess juice remaining in them.

After removing dried peaches from the oven or drying, gently move them to a clean dry plate and leave to cool. And then it will only remain to brew fresh tea and invite the family to taste a freshly prepared delicacy.

Remains of dry jam put in a jar or food container and send for storage in the refrigerator or pantry (mainly so that it is cool and dry).

By the way, left after soaking peaches, syrup can also find excellent use. For example, use it to make soft drinks. So do not rush to get rid of it, and pour into a bottle and also store until you want to make an interesting lemonade.

Bon appetit!
