Why does a mother who does not help her son and his family feel right?

We have a reader who wants to share a story about her husband and mother-in-law. So to speak, a look from the outside. Of course, she asked to change the names, but in our opinion, this curious situation should be published, even if it were not named at all.

My husband and I have been married for 15 years. There's a baby, of course. We don’t have stars from the sky, but we’ve got some. Although, you know, now such a life that everything accumulated melts before your eyes. But we are trying, the daughter needs to be taught and put on her feet. Otherwise, what kind of parents are we?

Recently, my husband’s mother, my mother-in-law, fell ill again. She's been sick for about 6 years. Of course, we help whenever possible, but this time requires an expensive operation. This is difficult because my husband is an only child in the family, and my father has long been gone.



It all started when my mother-in-law decided to start a business. I sold an apartment in the center, got loans and opened a small coffee shop. I rented a room nearby where I only slept. She was basically working.

Rent for a good place cost decent money, but it was rectified: the business brought at least a small, but income. But she decided to invest in expensive and high-quality products so that people with good incomes went to the institution. The plans were to expand and develop the case. Well, my opinion is that the initiative is very commendable. Especially considering how cowardly I am, opening up was very scary. Thanks to my husband, I changed my mind.



There. After a couple of years of good income and finding regular customers on the next street opened a very fashionable chain coffee shop. You all know it, there is no need for extra advertising. And despite the fact that they used simple ingredients, their popularity attracted customers to themselves. Even regulars who greeted their mother-in-law on the street.



Business went down. After paying the rent, there were mere pennies for which it was impossible to purchase goods. The coffee shop had to be closed and the equipment sold. No apartment, no money. On this basis, the health of her husband’s mother deteriorated sharply and from an energetic and not yet old woman she turned into a sick, unhappy person. As you can see, she is still sick.

Again, we have helped many times, we have done what we can. And now I want to tell you another little episode from the life of my mother-in-law. While her business has not yet moved competitors, her husband was fired from his job. I was on maternity leave at the time and the money was sorely short. Who did we turn to for help? That's right, my husband's mom.



That’s just the then businesswoman from the doorstep said that there can be no help or talk. Like, not small, you'll figure it out. You're the head of the family. What if there is not enough money for a child? I gave him so many toys, you got it. I have the money, it's true. But they should be put into action, not thrown to the wind. And in general, before it was even worse and nothing, everyone is healthy.

Now the husband does not like to remember that incident, but then he was just beside himself.



We try, we groom. We pay the hospital bills. But this operation is very difficult to pull. It's been so long, and it's all useless. What to do is completely unclear.
