The sun is good for women.

Researchers analyzed data from 30,000 women over 20 years and found that those who avoided the sun were twice as likely to die.

A major study by researchers at Karolinska Institutet found that women who never tan during the summer are twice as likely to die as those who tan every day. New data from Swedish scientists disprove established principles that advise people to stay away from the sun, without sunscreen.

Data from nearly 30,000 women over 20 years show that those who prefer shade have an increased risk of skin melanoma and twice the risk of dying from any cause, including cancer.

Study author Dr. Pelle Lindqvist said: “The results of this study clearly showed that mortality was about twice as high in women who avoided sun exposure, compared to sunbathing women.”
