"We are all more aware of how important a healthy intestinal flora for a well-functioning immune system. Children are born without bacteria in the intestine, and it is therefore interesting to determine the effect of dietary factors on development of gut microbiota in the first three years of life. The results of the study can be used to support initiatives that can be used to help children develop a type of gut microbiota, which is beneficial for immune system and digestive systems. This can for example be advice to mothers about breastfeeding or the development of new types of infant formulas".
