Why housewives massively change old gas stoves for built-in induction

Induction hobs appeared 30 years ago. But many are still quite skeptical about them. To dispel all doubts, we will consider the advantages of an induction cooker, try to find its disadvantages and figure out whether it is worth the money that is asked for it.

It is completely different from what we usually deal with. There is a heat source in both the gas and electric stove. We see it and can easily touch it with our hands (if carefully).

Its effect on iron dishes gives rise to eddy currents in it. The cookware heats up and heats up the food inside. This keeps the hob cold. Heating, as you can see, is only inside the dishes.

Induction hob advantages
  1. Rapid heating
With a task, for which an induction cooker will need 1–2 minutes, an electric one will cope in at least 5 minutes.

  2. Security
The working surface of an induction hob does not get as hot as other types of hobs. Mostly hot dishes. Even if you accidentally touch it with your hand, you definitely won't get burns.
  3. Ease of care
Due to the low surface heating, the induction hob is easy to maintain. After all, the products that fall on it will never burn.

Wipe it with a napkin, and the panel is as good as new!

  4. Saving energy
Induction hobs generate heat inside the cookware itself. Therefore, it is used very sparingly. For comparison: the efficiency of induction cookers is 90–93%, electric ones - 50–55%, and gas cookers - 49–52%.
  5. Availability of additional functions
Almost all induction hobs have a built-in timer. You pour out the pasta, put it after boiling for 7 minutes and go about your business.

Many cookers are able to automatically detect the size of the pan placed on them. The current will be sent only to those coils that are located directly under the bottom of the pan. This increases heating efficiency and saves energy.

There is no need to be afraid that you will forget to turn off the stove. As soon as you remove the dishes from the hob, it turns off by itself.

Disadvantages of an induction hob
  1. The need for special dishes
For heating to take place directly in the dishes, you will need special pots and pans with ferromagnetic properties. Steel and cast iron products are also suitable. But aluminum, glass and ceramic dishes will have to be abandoned.

However, it is not at all necessary to puzzle over which dishes are suitable. If the pot or pan does not have a ferromagnetic bottom, the hob will simply not turn on.

  2. Price
The price of an induction cooker is still higher than an electric or gas cooker, but it tends to decline. In addition, do not forget that the funds invested in the purchase will gradually pay off due to more economical energy consumption.
  3. Potential health impact
Many potential buyers of induction hobs are stopped by the fear of electromagnetic radiation. Without which, however, none of the household electrical appliances can do.

In order to prevent even the slightest harm from using an induction cooker, you need to adhere to the rules specified in the instructions. It is recommended to stay no closer than 20 centimeters from the switched on panel. Do not use pans with a damaged bottom; choose only plastic or wooden spoons and spatulas.

Should you equip your kitchen with an induction hob? It's up to you to decide. Weigh all the advantages and disadvantages, take an interest in the parameters and cost of the available models. In any case, the induction hob will save you time for cooking, simplify putting things in order in the kitchen and protect you from burns.
