Volkswagen XL1: one liter per hundred kilometers

The developers at Volkswagen know how to surprise: they know how to design, not a problem for them to create a powerful engine, and this year the engineers of the German company will present diesel unit, which will consume just 0.9 liters of fuel per hundred.

Actually, the figure is slightly understated the actual test in the field showed the result twice. Promised 0.9 l can be seen on the trip computer only at cruising speed down a straight asphalt. But, no doubt, and the result is impressive.

Volkswagen XL1 turbocharged diesel engine working volume of 0.8 liters and a capacity of 48 HP, which helps the electric motor of 20 kW. The new model has seven-speed DSG gearbox. The car's top speed is 160 km\m, and it is worth noting that up to 80 is mainly used for the electric motor.
Impressive aerodynamics provides the same, and the dimensions of the car. The height of the new Volkswagen 1.15 m, making it one of the squat auto. Car width does not exceed standards in the Golf class, only 1.66 m, with a length of 3.8.
The design is, frankly, an Amateur. In the first place catches the eye is the lack of side mirrors, they were replaced by video cameras, broadcasting the image on the displays in the door panels. The car is small and extremely slick but for developers and autocritical, he is bound to succeed.
After the Geneva motor show the Volkswagen XL1 will be put on the conveyor. The final price for the most economical car has not yet been announced, but we already know that it will exceed 50 thousand euros.
