British scientists have invented a gadget to detect cancer on the breath

The doctors do not cease to repeat that the diagnosis of cancer at early stages is the key to successful treatment outcome. Contributing to a more simple diagnosis, British scientists announced the development of the gadget, which determines the sign of cancer on the breath of a patient. Scientists from the University of Cambridge are working on creating a unique machine that is able to diagnose cancer by breathing. They have managed to create a test sample of a stationary device. A couple of years they intend to release a mobile version, which will differ compact size and support modern mobile devices. True, it requires serious investment.

In the development of the device directly involved company Owlstone, which was established about ten years ago, graduates of Cambridge. It has long been engaged in production of devices for oil and gas companies and anti-terrorist agencies, which allowed to determine the level of contamination and the presence of explosives.

The company changed the direction of its activities towards medicine after the girl of co-founder Billy Boyle was diagnosed with cancer of the fourth stage. According to statistics, if the disease is detected in the first stage, the chances of survival are about 90 %. In the fourth stage the chances of falling up to six per cent.
