Trees can heal people
A study by canadian scientists has shown that trees have healing properties. Scientists of the research Center of environmental epidemiology (CREAL) in Barcelona, found that children who grew up in favorable environmental conditions, among a large number of herbs that have a more developed attention and better memory.
In recent years, increasingly research is being conducted to study the influence of nature, particularly trees, on human health. Recently, scientists conducted an experiment in Canada: they calculated the number of trees in the greater Toronto area (the Metropolitan area, which includes Toronto and the four neighbouring city district), and then compared it with the population of the area and analyzed the state of health of each person. The result was that people living in areas with extensive planting of trees, less prone to diseases and are much less likely to seek medical help.
"People are very contemptuous of the benefits of the environment, says Professor of psychology, University of Chicago Marc G. Berman, who was a direct participant in the study. I do question the physical effects of the environment on the brain and human behavior."
In 1984, American biologist E. O. Wilson published the book "Biophilia" in which a hypothesis about the unity of all living beings. According to him, the man instinctively seeks to be with other living organisms. "Why do people constantly carry flowers to the hospital? Is it just a nice gesture? I believe that the meaning of this action is life — affirming effect," said Professor Stefan R. Kellert, co-editor Wilson.
Trees can make the air cleaner, eliminating the 6 most well-known air pollutants: ground-level ozone, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, and lead. One tree can absorb 4.5 kg of various pollutants per year. According to the calculations of employees of the U.S. Forest service (U.S. Forest Service), trees save more than 850 human lives a year and prevent 670,000 cases of acute respiratory viral infections. published
