Frequent intensive running is harmful to health

Research scientists from Denmark have questioned the fact that active running is a panacea for many ailments. Dr. Peter Schnore and his team have been seriously studying this issue. The unexpected results were described in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. The probability of early mortality in active runners and people with a sedentary lifestyle is the same. The life of those who live is longer.

Moderate running and brisk walking are good for health

It is scientifically proven that physical activity is favorable to the general condition of the body. As the statistical analysis of this topic proves, weak, uniform loads are perceived by a person more easily. They are much more useful than intensive jogging. 20 minutes of walking reduces early mortality rates by 16-30%. Such data was provided by scientists in Medical News Today.

A healthy lifestyle and good physical shape will help to support an easy jog Health and dynamic load are closely related. Dr. Schnore and his colleagues conducted a large-scale study of this issue. 5,048 healthy people were tested. 3,950 are ordinary citizens, leading a normal, sedentary lifestyle, and 1,098 are runners.

The work went on for 12 long years. The dynamics, duration and number of runs were tracked. Statistics of deaths: 128 ordinary people and only 28 running. It was noticed that the runners mostly avoided nicotine addiction, were less likely to suffer from diabetes, had a normal body mass index. Blood pressure was also much lower.

The statistics of the number of deaths among sedentary people and intensive runners turned out to be equivalent, and those who devote only 1-2 hours to running in this indicator are significantly lower.

Summing up the results of the study, Dr. Schnor argues that the relationship between these indicators suggests a certain dosage limit, which is favorable for health. Athletic walking or light, calm running, a couple of times a week, contributes to longevity. Ultra-intensive aerobic loads are unnecessary and can be dangerous for the human cardiovascular system.

In the United States, according to the recommendations for physical activity, the norm for weekly exercise is 1.25 hours of intensive aerobics or 2.5 hours of moderate.

Once again, the simple principles of a healthy lifestyle are confirmed: for an ordinary person (not an athlete), uniformity and moderation in fitness are beneficial and longevity, and excessive loads are only harmful.
