Watermelon diet can lower blood pressure and prevent heart attack and stroke

According to new research, predgipertonicheskoe condition is a major risk factor for such serious health risks such as stroke and heart attack.

However, not too many people know that simply eating watermelon can be a very effective way to prevent predgipertonicheskogo natural state and, therefore, significantly reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Scientists from the University of Florida, dealing with nutrition, found that the consumption for six weeks 6 grams of L-citrulline contained in the extract of watermelon, helped to normalize the blood pressure of all participants in the study (nine adults) who have high blood pressure was observed earlier. These latest findings were published in the journal «The News».

Leading research group of scientists employee who held the new study, Dr. Arturo Figueroa claimed that his team first documented significant improvement in arterial hemodynamics in middle-aged people (men and women) who have been diagnosed predgipertonicheskoe state, but otherwise healthy, and regularly receive therapeutic doses of watermelon.

Simply put, spent study suggests that normal watermelon, sometimes still referred to as "functional food" has a vasodilatory effect.

Dr. Figueroa also believes that eating watermelon eating may even deter the onset predgipertonicheskogo state and prevent its development to full-scale cases of hypertension; and, as mentioned earlier, hypertension is a precursor to more serious diseases such as stroke and heart attacks.

Large and usually round in shape watermelons are not only refreshing and definitely tasty treat during the summer heat. They are also known as the richest edible source of L-citrulline, an amino acid that helps regulate a healthy blood pressure.

Once the L-citrulline is ingested, it is processed and converted into another type of amino acid, L-arginine.

However, when taken in the form of a dietary supplement L-arginine may cause some minor side effects. These include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and gastrointestinal problems, especially in adults who are already experiencing high blood pressure at the time of reception of this amino acid.

People suffering from arterial stiffness and high blood pressure - in particular those who have been diagnosed with various chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus or simply diabetes, or even those who are older - will be extremely useful to take L-citrulline in its synthetic or natural form, - says Dr. Figueroa

. The most natural and safe option for producing L-citrulline is, of course, watermelons; as it is a natural product, it does not cause any unwanted side effects.

And this version is particularly suitable for older people and those who already have health disorders mentioned above. All these facts allow us to take a fresh look at familiar to us fruit, and perhaps pay more attention to it in the coming season.
