How we breathe
Most people, due to the natural nasal cycle, only breathe through one nostril at a particular time. The change of the "leading" nostrils occurs cyclically, on average every 4 hours. This is due to the same periodic increase and decrease in the width of the lumen in each of the halves of the nasal cavity, which occur due to the expansion and compression of blood vessels.
