Moonstone - a fake
Stone, brought the Americans to the Moon, was a fake
A valuable exhibit of the Dutch National Museum Rijksmuseum - a fragment of lunar soil - turned out to be fake. Experts note that the valuable exhibit is not nothing but a piece of petrified wood, transmits Bi-bi-si.
The exhibit was transferred to the former Prime Minister of Holland as US ambassador to the country, which received the stone from the astronauts' mission "Apollo 11" shortly after their return from the moon in 1969. After the death of the Prime Minister moved the stone museum. He was insured for the sum of 500 thousand dollars.
"The whole story is very entertaining, and answers to many questions is no," - said a spokeswoman for the museum Sandra baths Gelder. According to her, experts have questioned the authenticity of the stone back in 2006. Finally, the suspicion is confirmed by the analysis of the exhibit, conducted by experts of the Free University of Amsterdam.
The US government has not commented on the situation.
