Car air conditioner was first introduced in 1940 - the company "Packard" has established a similar device on their cars, and in 1941 they were followed by "Cadillac". However, both systems were ineffective, significantly increases the load on the engine, occupies half of the trunk and cost a lot of money. The first truly effective and affordable autoconditioners appeared on cars in 1952-54 years - and some of the best staged just to "Chrysler».

Walter Chrysler was interested in this subject during the construction of the headquarters of his company in New York - he needed air conditioners for rooms and offices. After a short study showed that the systems of those years were very imperfect. Therefore, the work took subdivision AirTemp, owned by Chrysler. The result is the famous art deco skyscraper the Chrysler in New York. It was the first fully "in air conditioning" building in the world - in the thirties years. Now, this system is designed specifically for the car.

New air-conditioning provided not just cooling as before, but constant air circulation in the cabin - working 60% pure fresh air and air-conditioning create a cool freshness of the cabin, as well as cigarette smoke pulled overboard. FULL mode system on the car has cooled from 45 degrees to 30 in two minutes - that was impressive for those years. Moreover, the vents located in the rear shelf, and were directed at the ceiling - so the interior is cooled uniformly; and air is taken through a small grille on the rear deck, rather lurid gills and sleeves like a competition. The system also includes a single turn of a switch in the cabin (not integrated with a heater).
