Sprats in the Pond Ingredients
  • 160 g sprat (in addition 3-4 whole fish for decoration)
  • 200g potatoes
  • 200g carrots
  • 100g hard cheese
  • green-onion feathers
  • 2 chicken eggs
  • green-onion

Preparation
  1. Boil carrots and potatoes in uniform, boil hard-boiled eggs.

  2. Grate peeled potatoes on a grater or grind with a blender, a little salty. Put it in the salad first layer.

  3. Apply a thin layer of mayonnaise on top.
  4. Grate the boiled carrots. Mix it with mayonnaise and put the second layer.

  5. Open a jar of sprats and choose a couple of whole fish to decorate. It didn’t cost me a lot of work, as the sprats are Latvian and look just perfect.

  6. Break the remaining sprats with a fork and put them in the third layer. Put some mayonnaise again.

  7. Clean the eggs of the shell. Cut them fine with a knife or rub them on a grater. Put the sprat on top. Put mayonnaise on top.
  8. Grate hard cheese. In accordance with the artistic plan, it would be better, of course, to dorble. But for lack of it we use any available.

  9. Sprinkle the grated cheese salad.
  10. Wash your onion feathers thoroughly. Leave 2-3 beautiful flat feathers and cut the rest finely.
  11. The most responsible and creative part of the recipe remains: decorate the salad.
  12. Sprinkle the salad on the edge of the salad with sliced onions.
  13. Stick selected spratines and onion feathers into the salad so that they hold upright.

  14. So we made a little pond. Cheese here symbolizes water, sliced onions - coastal grass, and green feathers of onions - reed. And in the middle of all this splendor, I'm with a fishing rod and a glass of beer. Beautiful! I'm sorry to eat.
  15. Let the salad stand for an hour to soak better, and serve it to the table. Bon appetit!
