Recall that "AVTOVAZ" and "Yandex" has signed a Memorandum of intent in mid-March of this year. Then it was reported that the parties will jointly engage in the development of multimedia systems of new generation, including infotainment and navigation services. And here now it became known that the companies intend to create a full hardware and software platform for robomobile. To implement such a complex project will involve outside specialists. By the way, Yandex is already working on a staff in the relevant field. Among the tasks of the developers of unmanned vehicles named: creation of infrastructure for collecting and processing the data flow from the sensors; advanced 3D-visualization of the data, the playback and creation of the simulation environment; reliable and efficient realization of algorithms of vehicle control.
It is already known that "Gazprom" and "Yandex" are going to test the system on auto-pilot concept car LADA XCODE. The project of this machine initially provides support for the telematics platform of LADA Connect, which allows you to control the onboard systems via smartphone, and in the future — to use cloud services. Support LADA Connect will facilitate the integration of the hardware of the autopilot.
As for the software component, it will be based mainly on the development of "Yandex". This map service, Analytics, big data, forecasting algorithms, etc.
It is curious that "AVTOVAZ" and "Yandex" are going to be integrated initially into the system of auto-pilot functions that are not even considered until other developers of self-driving cars. For example, robomobile LADA will be able, without the driver, get to the nearest sink by appointment through the system LADA Connect and even visit a gas station, where the employee will be enough to pour fuel in the gas tank, and the write-off of money happens automatically from the account of the owner.
