Scientists have established that the loneliness of men associated with reduced survival from melanoma
According to a new study, there are differences in the prognosis of cutaneous melanoma. According to scientists, the status and sex of the person is crucial: single men die more often. Swedish researchers at Karolinska Institutet and their colleagues from Linkoping University made a detailed study of the relationship between the prognosis of cutaneous malignant melanoma, and how the patient lives alone or with your partner. This study is based on data from cutaneous malignant melanomas diagnosed in Sweden between 1990 and 2007.
The experts examined the risk of death from melanoma among more than 27,000 patients with melanoma, in relation to their cohabitation status at the time of diagnosis. Study author Hanna Eriksson, PhD said, "We were able to show that loneliness of men associated with reduced survival from melanoma. Our study shows that this applies to men of all ages, regardless of their level of education and place of residence".
