This small plate will purify dirty water for 20 minutes
water - this is the most important part of our body, and to feel good, it is extremely important to drink only pure water. It was thinking scientists at Stanford University invented the smallest and most effective water filter.
< Website is struck by an amazing device, and so we want to tell everyone about it.
This tiny filter size of a postage stamp could kill 99, 99% of all bacteria in water in just 20 minutes.
It is no secret that getting sunlight can purify the water, since the ultraviolet kills germs, but this process takes 48 hours. Small filter also uses the sun's energy, but does it a little differently.
Leading research Liu Chong (Chong Liu) at Stanford University, told how it works.
Mini filter uses the visible spectrum, which contains most of the solar energy (40%) compared to the UV (10%).
Inside the device has special plates coated with molybdenum disulphide. Sunlight acts on the plate and "lights" chemical reaction. During the reaction produces hydrogen peroxide and other disinfectants in a sufficient amount to clear water, but does not harm humans.
If you look under the microscope, the filter consists of a large number of plates, hit the light which starts the cleaning process.
"The aim of our research - the decision problem of environmental pollution, so people can live better," - says Liu
. And it is important that the production of such plates cheap enough, so use similar technology can absolutely everything.
It's an amazing study was published in Nature Nanotechnology.
