Norway to build world's first floating underwater tunnels

The ambitious plan of Norway, a small but very rich Scandinavian kingdom, lies in the fact that with the help of a network of underwater tunnels to facilitate the work of the ferries, and at the same time significantly reduce their number. Ferry - pieces you need, but when there are too many, they strongly interfere with passing ships, accumulating over and over in the same places. Plus, it is also not very nice, but the journey with them often becomes two, or even three times as long and tedious.

Underwater tunnels allow travelers to travel without the help of the ferry, which means that no longer have to check the schedule and be afraid of being late for the next ferry. "Flooded floating bridges" - this is how they are called, according to the project, are large pipes, fixed by means of special platforms at a depth of about 30 meters. The pontoons, which will be located on the tunnel, the beams will be strengthened, leaving deep into the bottom of the pond. Each of the tunnels will be wide enough to lay it on the two lanes.

The problem has ripened for a long time. Now, to get from Kristiansand to Trondheim, you need to drive about 1,100 kilometers. This trip takes about a day for seven ferries, standing in the way. Many fёrdov and difficult terrain - the main reasons why the country so many ferries have become in our time is not the most effective way to transport goods and passengers. It is much easier to travel by personal car without being distracted, so it was decided to develop a tunnel project.

According to preliminary calculations, the implementation of ideas will cost $ 25 billion, but by 2035, the time that people spend on the road, will be reduced almost by half, and all thanks to an underwater tunnel.

The question arises: why not build a normal bridge, spending much less money and are laid at the same time in a much shorter time frame? The answer is simple. Because of the terrain and weather conditions, bridges are not the best option. Who knows, maybe, for the usual tunnels and passenger arrives Hyperloop?
