If you are frowning in bright sunlight, you can get angry
Research on the Italian beach seem interesting rezultaty
Back in 1872, Charles Darwin observed that when people look at the sun, they often frown, and the person then takes the same expression as in anger. This is true - when people without glasses looking at the sun, working the same muscles around the eyes, and that anger.
Recent studies have shown that emotions can affect the facial expressions and body posture. For example, if you ask people to smile or frown in laboratory conditions, without revealing their true nature of the experiment, they feel sadness and joy, respectively - a brain scan confirms it.
A group of Italian researchers have hypothesized that people who are in the sun without sunglasses that help not to frown or squint will often feel anger or aggression. To find out, scientists set up an experiment: selected Italian beach places where people were forced to sit and chat in the sun, or had an opportunity to escape from it, and interviewed 297 travelers.
People sitting in the sun, was much more angry and aggressive as compared to those who could hide from the sun. Interestingly, however, the specificity of these emotions: close connection with negative feelings such as bitterness or sadness was not. Please note that changes in mood were small - people really angry, and do not make trouble all around, just feel a little more irritated - they came to the beach to rest in the end.
Scientists believe that the change in mood may be associated with the so-called reverse hypothesis face - facial expression or posture can affect your mood. And it seems that this happens quickly enough - the shift towards an angry occurred regardless of how long people spent in the sun.
