1914: South Pole has been made Amundsen and Scott. The next idea was a project of the British through-crossing of Antarctica via the South Pole. In October of the same year Sir Ernest Shackleton on the ship "Endyurens" is sent to the last great heroic journey "Age of Discovery". However, his plans did not come true: when you try to land on the mainland 14 February 1915 "Endyurens" frozen in ice and forced to spend the winter. However, 9 months after the onset of the polar summer, it becomes apparent that the ship will not be free. Ice crush "Endyurens" finally. In this situation Shackleton decides to get to the nearest land, which becomes a desert island Elephant. Leaving behind most of the crew, Shackleton with 4 volunteers sent to the 900-mile voyage to the Southern Ocean whale-boat to the island of South Georgia, where the base of the whalers and where possible to get help. Despite the unfortunate results of the expedition, Shackleton on his return to the UK was adopted as a hero - not a single member of the expedition died.
The crew includes operator Frank Hurley, who documented a 35 mm film camera and a two-year epic struggle for the life of a 28-member crew. Based on the film in 1919, the film goes South.
