Rating of the worst dishes according to the majority; they are definitely not worth putting on the holiday table

It’s not without reason that they say: if you don’t like something, it means you simply don’t know how to cook it. But even I (a person who loves and knows how to cook) involuntarily twitches my eye when I see dishes from “that same list” on the table. Each of us discovers it in childhood. It includes, so to speak, subjectively worse dishes , after trying which we decide that we definitely shouldn’t give them a second chance. However, food preferences change with age, and what previously seemed like excellent disgusting food may surprise you after a couple of years. So I regularly check this list again and again: what if?

And although there is an opinion that there is no arguing about tastes and that there is no friend according to taste and color, this is not entirely true. It turned out that most of our readers will definitely agree with each other. After all, we can single out several dishes around which controversy most often arises. One thing is clear: they need to be placed on the holiday table carefully. And definitely don’t make them the main dish of the day.

The worst dishes, according to the majority

Jelly Jelly (aka jellied meat), for your information, recently took an honorable 67th place in the list of “100 most disgusting dishes in the world” . It is clear that this food seems strange to foreigners. But in his homeland, as it turned out, they don’t really like him. According to a survey conducted by the Samokat express delivery company, 33% of respondents consider jellied meat their least favorite dish.

According to ancient culinary legend, jelly was a favorite winter food of hunters. A decoction from the remaining parts of the game quickly hardened in the cold, and if necessary, it could be quickly melted over a fire to create a rich broth. It seems that not everyone bothered with warming up - that’s how jellied meat appeared.

Semolina porridge and oatmeal Only semolina porridge received the worst rating - 43 percent chose it as the worst dish. Moreover, it is porridge with lumps and specifically from kindergarten. It's no secret that the food in such establishments is quite lean, and cream is definitely not added to such porridge. Not to mention dried fruits, nuts and fresh berries. The most you could hope for was a drop of jam in the center of the plate.

And someone didn't like the oatmeal. Yes, its consistency can be very questionable. And again, it all depends on how and what to cook it on. After all, oatmeal can be milky and sweet, with the same fruits, or it can be salty, in broth, with sausages and herbs.

Fish cutlets Oddly enough, third place on the list of least favorite dishes was taken by fish cutlets - 27% of respondents. Fair enough, because in Eastern Europe fish is not held in high esteem. As a rule, first of all at the table they eat meat, then chicken, and only then they take on fish. Fish cutlets are also unpleasant because you never know whether the bones were ground during their preparation or not.

Worst dishes: “Herring under a fur coat” For the same reason, many people cannot digest “Herring under a fur coat”. This is especially true for homemade lightly salted herring, because not everyone has a keen eye for fish without bones. In addition to lightly salted fish , which not everyone likes, the salad also contains beets, which to many people resembles the taste of the earth. This is usually the number one least favorite dish among children. And there’s plenty of it among adults too. Take, for example, the author of this article.

Liver pancakes It is important to note here that liver pancakes and liver cake are two different things. There are significantly more cake fans than pancake fans. The thing is that without garlic and mayonnaise, this dish will lose most of its fans. And even with them, not everyone will agree to put extra on their plate.

Kissel and dried fruit compote If jelly is not liked for its viscous consistency, then dried fruit compote repels many with just the taste of prunes . By the way, prunes have overtaken even raisins in the number of their ill-wishers.

Worst dishes: pea soup However, not everyone likes both pea soup and pea pies. What can we talk about if even green peas are bought less often than the same corn or beans? Boiled peas have a rather starchy taste. In addition, it causes active flatulence , which scares off most gourmets.

Agree that many of these controversial dishes have come to be perceived very differently over time. But even so, few of them became truly loved, rather tolerable. If we talk separately about products, then everything is simpler here. The rankings are topped by prunes, cilantro, licorice, olives and oysters. Please note that we are not talking about the most terrible exotic tastes that will shock anyone (for example, surströming). No, just ordinary products and dishes that have their own fans. Do you agree with this list or would you like to add something?
