The previous adversity was more enthusiastic than it is now. People learned to overcome everyday difficulties, adapting to the new realities of life. And the youth joked that the authorities deliberately invented this in order to get a demographic surge in the country, to raise the birth rate, which fell lower and lower every year. It was a joke, but the situation was not so tragic.



In February 2022, Ukraine was subjected to Russian aggression, as a result of which the invader systematically launches missile strikes on critical infrastructure, destroying them with cynical tenacity.

With the onset of severe cold weather, the load on the power system of the country increases significantly, and, given the ongoing attacks on substations, Ukrainians are advised to be ready not only for more or less predictable fan blackouts, but also for a longer absence of several days or even weeks.

To survive difficult times, people remember not so long ago past days and the advice of the older generation, which has already faced similar trials in the 90s. These recommendations may still be useful today.

  1. Get additional sources of food. You'll be up to date and can stay in touch.



  2. You need to insulate your home as much as possible, have a supply of warm clothes and blankets. If you have a tourist tent, and in the apartment in winter heating problems, put a tent on the bed or in the middle of the room, throw a blanket there and go to bed there. Inside the tent, you'll get a few degrees warmer.



  3. It is necessary to make supplies of drinking and technical water, since in case of a power outage, neither the pump to pump water nor the elevator will work to facilitate the delivery of bottled water to the apartment from the store. It is appropriate to keep a thermos with hot water on hand. So you can brew hot tea or coffee and warm up any minute.
  4. There should be a stock of products for which storage does not require a refrigerator. If you have prepared for the future a pan of borscht, soup or roast, it must be boiled after heating, in this way you will extend the shelf life of the dish.



  5. In the cold season, you can store food on the balcony. It is advisable to put meat and lard in a bag or box, otherwise they can eat birds. Fruits and vegetables are better packed in a foam box or covered with an old blanket. It should be borne in mind that on the balcony on the south side of the house there will be significant temperature changes.
  6. At night, it is prudent to wear clothes with reflective elements and, overcoming the roadway, it is worth highlighting yourself with a flashlight or phone beam.
