The surgeon states: “Vishnevsky ointment is the day before yesterday. There are so many complications that...

Vishnevsky ointment is in almost every home medicine cabinet. It is used by everyone and regularly. It treats bruises, cuts, wounds, boils, boils, dermatitis - in general, everything that can only be treated with ointment. But modern doctors are categorically against the use of this ointment, and there are a number of adequate reasons for this.

Editorial "Site" So I decided to figure out what was going on. Is it possible to use Vishnevsky ointment and how safe it is.

Vishnevsky ointment, or liniment balsamic according to Vishnevsky, was very popular in the Soviet Union. Alexander Vishnevsky invented this greenish substance in 1927. It has gone from the Great Patriotic War to today. That’s just modern medicine is clearly not delighted with it, but about it a little later.

Let’s talk about the components of the miraculous ointment. The first and main component is birch tar, which is known for its antiseptic properties. Another substance that is part of the tool is xeroform. These components in each gram of ointment of 30 mg, the rest is castor oil. During the Great Patriotic War, ointment was used everywhere, because other potent drugs did not exist in the right quantities.

90 years ago, Vishnevsky’s approach to wound treatment was very valuable. The doctor saved many lives. However, it is now unclear whether this is due to the components of the ointment. Perhaps a big role was played by the surgeon’s opinion that it is necessary to thoroughly clean the wound, and the impermeability of the bandage, which was applied over the liniment.

In the postwar years, many doctors insisted on stopping the use of Vishnevsky ointment in practice. It was said that the use of this drug leads to a huge number of complications, besides, the effectiveness of the ointment has not been scientifically proven.

The mechanism of action of the ointment was simple: covering the wound with an airtight film, it stimulated the heating of tissues and pulled pus. But this heating stimulated the rapid growth of microbes under the layer of ointment, which led to complications, up to gangrene.

Despite all the assurances of doctors and scientists, the ointment still retained its popularity. On the expanses of the CIS, it is still sold, and people are still trying to cure hemorrhoids, lesions of the intestinal mucosa, boils and much more with its help. Only now doctors and scientists have come to a common conclusion - Vishnevsky ointment is hopelessly outdated.

Perhaps 90 years ago, the ointment was effective against certain types of bacteria, but the effectiveness of the ointment against new, mutated strains of microorganisms is questionable. Most likely, they have long adapted and the ointment does not harm them. Moreover, according to some reports, prolonged use of the ointment increases the risk of skin cancer and leukemia. And in danger not only the patient, but also the one who applies the ointment.

In many CIS countries, ointment is generally prohibited, and the rest of the world is not known at all. Many years of experience have confirmed that it is ineffective in the treatment of wounds. Tar prevents the wound from healing due to hypergranulation. The oil base of the ointment deprives the wound of oxygen, which provides the best conditions for the development of anaerobic infection. This means that the ointment can only aggravate the condition of the wound, not cure it.

From all this we can conclude that it is better to use another ointment. Such a remedy cannot be effective for such a long time, because bacteria and other microorganisms are alive, they evolve and can develop resistance to any drugs. Besides, think for yourself: birch tar with castor can not be a cure for all diseases at once. Different wounds require different approaches that only a doctor can tell you about.

If your doctor prescribes you Vishnevsky ointment, then there is reason to doubt his professionalism. Remember, liniment in any case can not be used for mastitis, gynecological diseases, abscesses, fistulas, arthrosis, arthritis, diathesis and allergies. And it's actually hard to find right now. What helps Vishnevsky ointment. Using an ointment will hurt rather than cure something!
