The company H55 from the co-founder of the Solar Impulse will make electric aircraft a reality
High-speed trains carry passengers throughout Europe and Asia for decades. With the advent of models such as the Renault Zoe, Chevrolet Bolt (Opel Ampera-e) and Tesla Model 3, begins the era of affordable electric vehicles. But what about aviation? Whether air transport to join ground vehicles as alternatives to vehicles using fossil fuels, polluting the air and contributing to climate change?
Co-founder of Solar Impulse Andre Borschberg aims to make an inexpensive, effective and reliable electric motor a reality for the aviation industry and that created a new company called H55.
"Electric air transportation will undoubtedly revolutionize the aviation industry — says Borschberg. 15 years ago when I started working with Solar Impulse, the electric motor is the little one took seriously. Today this area is important through the development of every major aviation company, and also attracts many start-UPS and new players. What is now science fiction will become a reality tomorrow."
A new Swiss company will focus on the development of the entire chain of electrical systems for aircraft, from energy sources and propulsion systems to the interfaces piloting and management tools. To date, H55 has successfully conducted more than 50 hours of flight testing on its prototype electroanalyt – aEro1.
We will remind, Borschberg spent as a pilot 8 of 17 stages round the world travel by plane, Solar Impulse 2, powered by only solar energy, including a five-day continuous flight over the Pacific ocean – which became the longest flight in history made on a single aircraft. Solar Impulse 2 took off from Abu Dhabi in March 2015 and circled the planet (with a nine-month delay due to technical reasons), returned there in July 2016. published
P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
