The first solar aircraft capable of flying around the world, presented in Switzerland

You may have heard of Solar Impulse. This is a solar-powered plane that flew over the United States last year. He broke numerous aviation records during this flight, and interesting results were obtained in previous flights over Europe and Africa. Solar Impulse was just a prototype. Solar Impulse 2 is a production model and was unveiled today in a remote corner of Switzerland. We talked to Solar Impulse co-founders Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg.

For starters, we offer two great videos from the Solar Impulse team about the new solar-powered aircraft:

It’s worth noting Bertrand’s way of thinking – solar and electric vehicles are practical, competitive and high-performance technologies that go one step ahead of their “dirty” counterparts at various levels without even touching on environmental issues. These are not just more environmentally friendly products, they are products of a different quality level. The main obstacle to the full adoption of these technologies, in the opinion of the expert, is the ordinary ignorance of the masses. The Solar Impulse team is doing a tremendous job of bringing awareness to these issues, while inspiring people, setting records, creating new categories of achievements, and promoting environmentally friendly technologies that will be used in everyday life in areas such as road transport and the aviation industry.

And it’s not surprising that Google, Virgin founder Richard Branson, the United States Department of Energy, ABB and other global giants have taken notice of this team and contributed to its development. In many ways, Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg are the Wright brothers of our generation, with the difference that in our case, they are pioneering clean technologies that will help stop global warming and the widespread pollution problems the world is currently facing. They absolutely deserve to be mentioned in the press and more.

To sum up, we’re excited to share some of the videos that were captured during Solar Impulse 2:.
