There are no problems, there are only people.
Question: I feel a bit confused about my problems. When I first joined the band, I realized that I wanted to be a human being, and now I don’t even know what a human being is or even if he exists at all. My problems change day by day, but when they don’t, it scares me even more. This morning I felt a great fear that I didn’t understand what my problem was! I know I'm just making up problems to protect myself.
It's good that you started to realize that. It happens to everyone.
There are no problems, only people, but we create problems out of our neuroses because we are afraid of being alone. We are used to constant employment: one problem goes away, but before it leaves us, we create another problem. We immediately replace one problem with another in order to always be busy. Otherwise, life will seem so empty and so vast that we will feel lost.
If you are not busy solving problems, then all this infinite enormity of existence will fill you to the brim. You’ll feel like such a tiny, almost empty place, and it scares you. When you create a problem, you forget about the world because you focus on the problem.
You’re more than any of your problems, and you’re okay because you know you have to do something about it. You feel very strong to keep playing with it.
Have you ever watched a cat play with a mouse? Sometimes it lets the mouse run a short distance, then suddenly jumps and grabs it. And again, she lets go of the mouse, and then, jumps and catches it, starts playing with it.This is how the human mind behaves: it plays cat and mouse. You don't have a real mouse, but you have a plastic mouse or a rubber mouse, or a mouse from your imagination, a mouse from your imagination.
You create a problem to feel strong, because without them you will feel helpless. You’re trying to solve your problems, and you know you can do it, because problems are your creation. If you allow them to remain undecided for a while, that is also good, for you give them the opportunity to exist for a while; otherwise you could end them immediately. A cat can do away with a mouse at any time, but it gives it a little freedom to play with it.
When you have no problems, you have nothing to focus on. And when you are not focused on anything, you suddenly become aware of the limitlessness of existence, and this limitlessness has a paralyzing effect on you. Everyone wants to forget about the heavens and the stars, and the best way to do that is to create problems: small, insignificant, stupid... like what dress to wear today.
So you're standing in front of the wardrobe trying to decide what kind of dress to wear today. You're doing great with this game. It's just for you, because your dresses don't care. You can choose to wear any of them you like, no one stands in your way.
You can go on living worrying about trifles, but it’s just a trick—a way to escape existence, from your own insignificance. Man is a very tiny creature, and until you accept this fact, you will continue to fool yourself with your problems. But once you accept the fact that a person is very small, the problems disappear. You only feel insignificant because you don't want to accept that fact. Accept it, and you will see that you are not separate from this infinite whole; you are part of the whole, you are the whole.
So all these games are made by you. You got a beautiful insight, something very important and significant. If you want to keep playing, keep playing. But if you don't want to play anymore, you can drop the games.
If you give up games, then for the first time in your life you will be truly alive. If you discard them, for the first time in your life, you can become available to the limitless energy that surrounds you. This life can be absolutely amazing, absolutely fantastic, and you keep playing with all that unnecessary noise of your imagination. If you see the reason for this, stopping is very easy. Don’t try to be strong; just be who you are. Don’t try to fight existence, run away from it – just accept it.
To accept is to be strong. To accept is to be religious. To accept without any evaluation, without any conditions, means to move into a completely different dimension – call it “divine” or whatever. And this opportunity is waiting for you on every corner, you can throw away your problems at any moment.
I continue to answer your questions, I continue to solve your problems, knowing full well that you do not have any problems. You may ask me why I keep answering your questions. I can just say that all this makes no sense. But then you can't understand anything.
You bring me a problem, I solve it. You ask me a question, I answer it. I became part of this game. If you're interested in this yoke, I'll play. Gradually you begin to realize what you are doing. And remember, you only waste your time, not mine, because I have nothing to achieve. Nothing is wasted here except your time. Once you understand this, you’ll drop all the problems and start enjoying and celebrating.. Instead of thinking about your problems, you will dance, sing, take long walks, swim in the river.
You can come into existence in many ways; it is only through thinking that it is not accessible, for thinking is a way of avoiding it.
Try to experience this glimmer of insight and don’t be afraid. I know that fear comes, incredible fear. I know how hard it is to live without problems. I went through it myself.
I got really scared this morning, so I had a headache, and that was a problem.
It was a problem you could have created. You can create a thousand and one problems. When you have a problem, life is no longer a problem; you are busy. But there's not a hint of any activity in all of your employment. Look at it carefully, and the mere fact that you pay attention to it will untie the knot. published
