Physics accidentally cheapen the process of production of graphene

Scientists from Kansas announced the discovery of a cheap method of production of graphene. The technology is so simple that it consists of three main components: gas, spark plugs and combustion chamber.The approach is as follows: scientists fill the chamber with acetylene or a mixture of oxygen and ethylene. Using the spark plugs from the car the mixture detonates. After the explosion, the graphene is collected on the walls of the aluminum chamber in the form of soot. Therefore, the process of obtaining graphene is the explosion of materials with high carbon content.
 





In this technology no dangerous and harmful chemicals in production. It allows easy scale production under the increasing volume. A particular advantage is that the energy required to start production, is contained in one of the spark plugs.

Method was discovered by accident. Scientists have patented the technology of producing the carbon aerogel. It was the above process of filling the chamber with gas and the explosion.
