To the Alps this year doesn't add up? A good reason to stay home, to remember the taste Chichikov, to see the Northern lights and roll down the mountain, which is 835 meters higher than Montblanc. Rosa Khutor, Krasnaya Polyana

Nothing like the resort of Krasnaya Polyana, lacquered Olympics in Russia. The young and ambitious — "Rosa Khutor". A huge, well equipped ski area, 429 snow cannons, a nice crowd and right on the slopes, no queues at the lifts (New year is not counted), modern hotels along the charming promenade of the river Mzymta and diverse apres-ski. And all this in addition to excellent views, mild climate, and the local "snow", which I love freeriders. Close your eyes, open your eyes... no, it's not a Mirage, we didn't really get worse than they have. Transport because of the Olympics thing, too, went smoothly: from the railway station in Adler to the station of Rosa Khutor — 40 minutes from the airport of Sochi — hour. One thing: very expensive. To save on accommodation, you can stay by the sea in Adler, but 2 hours a day wasted on the road.
Elevation: 534 m. 1
Season: mid December — beginning of may. The best time is February and March.
Track: "Rosa Khutor" was built primarily for competition. The resort is full of blue and red runs and for the most experienced is black with the spine-chilling names like "Men's Olympic downhill above 1600". Green is not enough, but promised that in the coming years will be more.
Ski passes: 1 500 — 2 950 rubles a day depending on the season.

Dombay
Karachay-Cherkessia

In Dombay many go for old: on the ridge Mussa-Achitara rode here in the 50s, when there appeared the first clip. To the current infrastructure of Dombay there are a lot of claims. The cable car are not linked and there is no single ski pass. Part of the lifts are old (from the fall you will be protected by a metal chain). The slopes are not groomed and poorly cared for. On the mountain there is a warm toilet, and in the village poor choice of entertainment. But even despite this many people like Dombay for a great variety of skiing for fir forests, rushing rivers, great climate and incredible views of the mountains.
Elevation: 1 400 m
Season: December — April.
The route is for beginners and experienced skiers and snowboarders. Many opportunities for freeriding, you can try Heli-skiing.
Ski pass to a new set of cable cars — about 1 600 rubles a day. On the old cable-chair roads must be paid for every rise.
How to get there: by plane to Mineralnye Vody, then by taxi or by bus with transfers in Teberda. On the train, too, to Mineral Waters, or to the Cherkessk or Nevinnomyssk, then take a taxi or the bus, too, with a change in Teberda.
Elbrus and Cheget
Terskol, Kabardino-Balkaria
Another nostalgic area — the Elbrus region. The first lift of Cheget earned in 1963, since then, the steep and bumpy trails beckon chegemskie all seasoned skiers. And Elbrus... how can you not dream of descending a hill, the highest mountain in Russia (and probably Europe)? After skiing you can taste the hot hychiny and nourishing Shochu, sweating in the sauna, explore the surroundings on foot, on horseback or ATVs, to master the technique of rotation of the skating (rink rental) and battle it out in paintball. The biggest enthusiasts are waiting for the summer, climb to the summit of mount Elbrus (5 642 meters — there is something to be proud of) and went out to ski or snowboard.
Elevation: on Cheget — about 1 100 m, Elbrus — up to 2 000 m.
Season: on Cheget — from December to April, on mount Elbrus — all year round (in the highest areas).
Track: Cheget in the teeth only experienced skiers and snowboarders, Elbrus is the route of any complexity. Great opportunity for freeriding. For snowboarding Elbrus is much better. Keep in mind that the body for several days adapting to the altitude. So do not hurry up to "Barrels" or "shelter of 11" and read in advance about altitude sickness and proper acclimatization.
Ski passes: 2 100 — 2 400 rubles a day on Elbrus (included 1, 2 and 3 stages) and 800 rubles per day on the MT.
How to get there: by plane or train to Mineralnye Vody or Nalchik, then a taxi to Terskol. Buses and taxis also go, but there's a chance we'll have to go with transfers in Tyrnyauz or Baksan.
Khibiny
Kirovsk, Murmansk oblast

The northernmost ski area of the country is beyond the Arctic circle, among the lunar landscapes treeless Khibiny mountains. The polar night has to be strictly for the holidays, and skate in this time only on the floodlit slopes. Best to come in March, when it's not too cold and lots of sunshine. A choice of several ski resorts, including a new, well equipped and well maintained "
Bolshoy Vudyavr" that will appeal to those who enjoy skiing. On the Northern slope of the same mountain — complex "kolasportland". "Kukisvumchorr" I love advanced skiers and snowboarders. The main feature of the Khibiny — free ride, but a ride on the wild slopes should be cautious, the weather here is changeable and there are often avalanches. In winter there is a chance to see the Aurora.
Elevation: 550 m.
Season: late November to early may, the best time is March.
The route is of any level of complexity, opportunities for backcountry and freeriding is infinite.
Ski passes: 1 400 rubles a day "Big Vudyavr" and 1 200 rubles a day "Kukisvumchorr".
How to get there: the fastest option is to fly to the city of Apatity-Kirovsk, and the remaining 30 km from Kirovsk to take the bus or taxi. Romantic, but a long way to get to Apatity by train. In Kirovsk you can stay in hotel or rent an apartment for 500-900 rubles per person per day.
Sheregesh
Kemerovo oblast
Track Sheregesh, hidden in the area with the romantic name of Gornaya Shoriya, considered the best in Western Siberia and successfully compete with the major ski resorts in the country. At Sheregesh really a lot of advantages: interesting and challenging slopes, the avalanche risk is low, a long season, a lot of snow, queues at the lifts, and the infrastructure is constantly improving. But most of all Sheregesh is appreciated for a soft "powder" and adrenaline skiing on the snow among the trees — that's where the freedom for those who want extreme. The audience is going young, and the atmosphere is the most provocative. You can settle in the hotel at the foot of the mountain or a few miles away in the village — it will be much cheaper. And housing, and a taxi to the ski lifts can be found in Sheregesh at the store, "Corn."

Season: November — early may.
Trails from green to black Green laid on the mountain (Karisal). Beginners and families with children usually ride on the mountain Bear.

Abzakovo

After the Caucasus, the Ural mountains the height is disappointing, but in Abzakovo the accommodation is much cheaper and no queues for the lifts (when they are all in the ranks). The preparation of the slopes is generally good, although there are forums and negative feedback — there could be as lucky. Trails are suitable for a relaxing ski any black runs or off-piste here, not at all. With apres-ski in the Falcon full order: you can visit the Amur tigers at the local zoo, drive Quad bikes, play on the slides at the water Park, the pump accuracy at the shooting range, to couple SPA treatments, or get rid of body fatigue in the bath.
You can settle in the rest house "Abzakovo", or away from the slope in the hotels or the private sector. 25 km from Abzakovo is another ski centre "metallurg-Magnitogorsk" on the lake Bannoye, where you need to go for comparison or just for a new experience.

Season: November — end of April / beginning of may.

Ski passes: 1 000 rubles per day on weekdays, 1 400 rubles at the weekend.
How to get there: by plane to Magnitogorsk, then by bus to pine forests (we go often, cost about 100 rubles), or to the same station by train (journey time from Moscow — 31 hours).
Sable Mountain
Baykalsk, Irkutsk oblast
Where else can you ride with views of the deepest lake of the planet, and for dinner try the famous Baikal fish omul? Ski resort "Mountain sable" in Baikalsk has become much more attractive when he closed the local pulp and paper mill, which stank. Since then, Buryat poses seem even more delicious, and the skiing is even more interesting. There are trails of all difficulty levels, including tubing area for kids and a super track for the ambitious parents.
