The experiment involved 35 healthy men and women. Volunteers had the simple task three "chewing" approach of 20 minutes each. Simple lesson before Breakfast burned 67 calories, and contributed to the support of the results throughout the day. After chewing procedures, men showed a significant decrease in appetite and energized. Chew gum before and after eating, they spent 5% more energy than their counterparts nieuwsma.
Researchers measured the intensity of metabolism and blood sugar levels of participants, fasting and after Breakfast and lunch. During the experiments, the volunteers reported about their feelings.
"Chewing stimulates the nerve endings, and they, in turn, transmit a signal brain region responsible for satiety," explains decrease feelings of hunger Professor Melanson.
"Our next step will be to conduct a larger scale experiment involving people wanting to lose weight," say the scientists. "We hope that the chewing gum will soon include in a weight loss program".
