Smile on health
Scientists prove time and time again to us that to smile — very helpful! This time dependence of our mental state from the smile on the face studied by the researchers of the University of Kansas.
In the journal Psychological Science published new data about how we need to smile during stressful situations to ease the load on the body.
"A smile is not only a nonverbal indicator of happiness but also a panacea for stressful life events," — says one of the study's authors Tara Kraft.
Scientists have divided smiles into two types: standard — they appear when a person uses only the muscles around the mouth; and true — when a person smiles, even the eyes, and around them there are specific wrinkles. During testing, the participants were engaged in a multitasking activity that caused them stress and dipped a hand into the icy water, which in itself invigorates the body. While some participants had done all the stunts without emotion, other standard smiling (helped not to smile a special wand in his mouth), and others smiled sincerely with all possible muscles in the face.
The conclusion is clear: short stress easier survive are those who know how to sincerely smile and not hesitate to support yourself with this smile. After all the stressful situations they had not such frequent palpitations, as the other study participants. And most affected are those who are not smiling at all. How not to repeat the wish, the old...: smile for your health!
