The beneficial properties of fiber

Fiber is the General name for complex carbohydrates, which are contained in the plexus of vegetable fiber. It is a kind of cellulose not susceptible to breakdown in our digestive system and goes straight to your gut flora. Probably the most famous and useful property of fiber – absorption accumulated in the human body of harmful substances, poisons, pesticides and salts of heavy metals.

Hollow plant fibres can absorb the amount of substances which is several times greater than their own volume. This, incidentally, may explain another interesting property of the tissue: if it enters the stomach, the fiber swells and can provide a person a feeling of fullness. This is used by nutritionists, advising diets that are rich in complex carbohydrates.

But the list of useful properties of the fiber ends. Fiber speeds up the metabolism, significantly reducing the residence time of food in the digestive tract – thus, the nutrients are absorbed faster, harmful – faster output. Regular consumption of foods rich in fiber, ensures that intestines, support the work of the heart, liver, pancreas and lungs. In addition, fiber helps to reduce cholesterol levels in the blood.
