At the Geneva Motor Show presented a body made of carbon, printed on a 3D printer

The author of the new conceptual development is the team of the engineering studio EDAG (Germany), which proposed to radically revise the approach to the creation of automobile bodies. The result of their work was a body made by a technology similar to 3D printing.
The prototype Genesis, presented at the Geneva Motor Show, was manufactured in a vacuum chamber by layer-by-layer spraying using lasers. EDAG engineers managed to create a structure made of a particularly durable material, resembling a turtle shell, which simultaneously performs protective and damping functions.

However, it is still too early to talk about the industrial application of this technology because of its complexity and high cost. Once these problems are solved, automotive designers will be able to bring their boldest ideas to life.
