Watermaker Russian student interested in the Egyptian scientists
Post-graduate student of the energy Department of South Ural State University Ildar Rakhmatulin has created a unique fresh water maker, capable of operating without centralized sources of electricity, and with virtually no human intervention. Despite the fact that the device can not boast high performance, and is quite crude, in practical terms, a sample, its concept has caused genuine interest among the world scientific community, as clearly evidenced by the fact of arrival of a representative of the Egyptian University of Alexandria for negotiations on the joint further work on the desalination plant.
Design development of the student is simple and complex at the same time. On the first says that the creation of the current prototype is a little less than 10 thousand rubles and the payback period at current performance, range from 230 to 340 days.
But the difficulty lies in the applied solutions. The Watermaker water is a simple pipeline, where its presence responds a sensor. When it works, the work included vacuum solar collector with copper rod. Here, the important point is that unlike flat-plate collectors, vacuum without problems able to heat water to the boiling point.
At this point, and starts all known from a school bench the desalination process – water evaporates, and paratwada condenseries at the bottom of the distiller.
At the finishing stage, in nighttime, when the device is not working, opened a special drain for concentrated salt solution, and fresh self-cleaning, in preparation for subsequent work.
The first variant of the device produced only 2 liters of fresh water per day. But then the Watermaker equipped system for solar tracking, which allowed to increase capacity up to 3 liters. But the student and his supervisor, I believe that these figures are not the limit. Prospects of technology scaling are clearly visible, and with the proper approach, the desalination plant could become a mass product of solar in those countries where there is an acute shortage of fresh water.
