18-foot giant fish dumped off the coast of southern California
Jasmine Santana of the marine Institute Catalina Island, needed more than 15 helpers to drag the giant sea creature to shore on Sunday. The staff at the Institute called this discovery the greatest in my life.
"We have never seen such a big fish," said mark Waddington, senior captain of the training ship, Tole Mour.
Because these fish live at a depth of over 3000 feet, sightings of these creatures are extremely rare and are unexplored.
The fish apparently died of natural causes. Tissue samples and video footage were sent to be studied by biologists from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
