Eco-products— what is it and where to get them

We want to breathe fresh air, drink clean water and eat natural products. And if the first control is almost impossible, the latter, in General, is in our hands. In the shops, in the market on the Internet, we offer natural, organic, farm products. Where they came from in such numbers? And what does "natural"?

The area outside the law

"Organic food", "farm products", "organic", "natural products", "bio", etc. Than one marking is different from the other? By and large, in our country — nothing. We have no law that would have forced manufacturers to adhere to strict compliance of the title and of real quality. The current chaos in the market allows any manufacturer to establish their own standards, that happens. Products on the shelves are filled with the labels "No GMO!", "Natural!". But these labels don't guarantee anything.

Products in Russia no one checks regularly, as is done all over the world. The chief sanitary doctor of Russia Gennady Onishchenko recommended to only call those organic products in which no chemicals and pesticides. In fact, it is a father's instigation, is not supported by the orders and regulations you and the only exception: it is forbidden to write on the label "environmentally friendly product". In the rest of the domestic manufacturer has the right to write whatever conscience allows. Unlike foreign colleagues. If you see three modest letters "bio" and a green leaf on the import of yogurt, it means that the product passed the state certification virtually.

In Europe and America a clear definition of organic products appeared in the early 90-ies. Different countries use different terms, and icons to designate them. For example, in the United States. England and Australia say "organic", in France "bio" in Germany and the Netherlands eco. In our country, several foreign organizations may carry out ecocertification, and only one Russian has such a right — the St. Petersburg ecological Union. According to independent experts, the share of the Russian food market is only 0.1% (in Europe and the United States — about 10%).

Grandmother under suspicion

Today the products produced in Russia in two ways — industrial and farm. Industrial prevails, what is clear: it is cheaper. There is a third option — a very small-scale producers: Granny on the road, mini-rynecki... They can look quite attractive, but, oddly enough, this is the worst option of all. These privateers, as a rule, no certificates of quality and ecological purity of products. Maybe do a cow grazing on a green meadow. But who can guarantee that this meadow has not been treated with pesticides, together with the adjacent farm fields?

If you are choosing between a grandmother at the curb and a conventional supermarket, it is better to choose the latter. We have people afraid of the word "preservatives," as if they add in food arsenic. But salt and sugar that we put in homework, also preservatives! In industrial products only add the necessary ingredients. Sure, vegetables straight from the garden is much healthier than from the store. But as a rule, everything that is allowed for sale in shops, meets the requirements of sanitary-hygienic norms and does not in itself constitute a risk to health.

However, in a perfect world, food would not only security and benefits, but also fun. Organic, living foods are different from normal, like the air in rural forest from what we breathe in the city center. And it's not only the amount of vitamins, minerals and flavonoids, which today heard even children. In the end, nothing prevents us from taking vitamin supplements is certainly useful, but does not give completeness of sensations that we get from the basic goat cheese, although we have her natural environment! For example, at the festival of cheese in Italy in the top ten included cheese made from Yak milk. And presented this cheese farmer from Russia, from Tuva. And who knows in our country? All depends on the people, from us, and a sincere desire to do it.

However, it seems, for the future farmers can be calm even in the face of the recent crisis, the market for organic food continued to grow. Both in Europe and in Russia. More is better, and while our goal is to make the right selection from existing proposals.
