Eco-Frontiers Ranch - the Polish eco-farm in the Carpathian mountains

A unique family run eco-farm is located in the heart of the Carpathians on the border between Poland, Ukraine and Slovakia.

This plot of 60 hectares, a couple of scientists Agnieszka and Andrzej acquired in 1999. They had a very specific dream to make a fully Autonomous eco-settlement. Of course, most people have not heard of this, and constantly wondered what they will do with their property as far away from communication, where there are no roads and electricity.
After 2 years hard work, their dream became a reality. Now ecofarm Ecofrontiers this eco-friendly house which can accommodate a total of 15 guests.

Eco-farm energy self-sufficient thanks to solar panels, two wind turbines and a biodiesel generator. Heating is via a wood-burning stove, the fireplace lined with straw and clay. Waste water is treated by filtration plants, rain water is collected in two ponds that serve as habitats for frogs and insects, act as a birdbath, and the water from them is used for irrigation of organic backyard and garden where they grow rare fruit trees.

"We have created an amazing environment for the habitat of beavers, which keep high water levels to protect wetlands from drying out. Eco-farm owns 10 hectares of forest. It is spruce forest with admixture broad-leaved trees: birch, beech, willow, Rowan, and many others. The forest we left unmanaged to see how nature manages itself. An eco farm surrounded by 40 hectares (about 100 acres) of meadows and pastures, which are managed in an environmentally sound manner. Since 2003, our ranch is certified in accordance with EU standards for organic farming and horse breeding. Each year, compliance is verified by an independent certification body. You will find a 0.5 ha (1.2 acre) organic garden with Apple trees, plums, pears, cherry, cherries, apricots and peach trees. Organic garden supplies us with fresh vegetables and herbs. Farm exports most of the products locally where possible; we grow organic vegetables, greens and fruits. We buy seasonal sheep and goat cheese from local shepherds. We try to make the best of what each season can diversify our menu. We use forest products: mushrooms and berries gathered mint, wild thyme, juniper, Rowan and hawthorn and use them as spices or ingredients for our homemade wine and liqueur. We prepare different types of jam and pickles that bring the fresh summer flavor in the winter days. We bake our own bread, makes its own wine and liqueurs, brew our own beer. Our leaflets are printed on paper certified by the FSC." — talks about his eco-farm Andrzej.

Hotel owners are both vegetarians and offering only vegetarian cuisine and national traits which they are happy to teach everyone. A married pair of scientists shared with guests and his other Hobbies such as astronomy, the manufacture of wooden furniture and protect the environment, including birds and beavers, which they put on a private nature reserve. The proximity to the Carpathian mountains allows you to go Hiking and Cycling in summer, and in winter to ski. The most surprising is that the eco-farm Ecofrontiers can be used free of charge in exchange for the labor of volunteers for the protection of the environment or as a worker on an organic farm, and at the same time to learn from leading practitioners of environmental of Poland.

The owners of eco-farms argue that it is the first and only place of its kind in the world, that is the first and only 100% eco farm, fully self-contained. Well, no wonder why it attracts crowds of tourists from all over the world)
