Wooden houses add to growth

The architect of Vancouver's Michael green (Michael Green) intends to obtain the consent of the city authorities for the construction of a 30-storey building out of wood. If available, a new wooden skyscraper will leave far behind the 9-storey Stadthaus in London and the 10-storey Forte Building in Melbourne, Australia.

Green said his main goal is not to beat someone in height. He has prepared and distributes free 200-page work entitled "On the construction of high-rise houses made of wood" (The Case for Tall Wood Buildings), hoping thereby to convince the architects to abandon the usual steel and concrete in favor of natural material, besides trapping of air carbon dioxide.

Yet the canadian building code is quite categorical and strictly limit the height of wooden houses – primarily for reasons of fire safety. However, the situation is gradually changing. The Ministry of agriculture announced the allocation of 2 million dollars for research in the field of wooden multi-storey housing, and in onigashima on the tree (literally) Chicago construction mega-giant Skidmore, Owings&Merrill is practicing in the redesign of a 42-storey Dewitt Chestnut in the wooden construction.

In Europe a 14-storey wooden house will be finished in Bergen, Norway, and the Austrian Dornbirn erect cosmetico – only to fill the hand for the construction of a 20-storey building, designed by Arup.
