Unique house of Dr. seuss in 12 floors
The American state of Alaska is huge and for the most part, underdeveloped territory with majestic scenery, but very cold and harsh climate. However, there is actively developing tourism, as a distinct local flavor, the sled dog race and beautiful nature attract more and more people want to plunge into the strange and the extreme.
The construction of the house, known today as Dr. Suess House ("the House of Dr. seuss"), began at the end of the last century. Back then it was quite usual: the former owner had built in the woods between willow and Talkeetna unremarkable wooden house.
It was planned that the Windows will be open views of mount McKinley, and originally it was an achievable dream: the construction was carried out after a forest fire when the trees around or not, or they were low. However, quite quickly the forest has recovered and the owner added another floor. Then he died, and the house remained abandoned for ten years.
Let's find out what happened next ...
The new owner was faced with the need of repair, but in the process, he decided that in addition to updating existing designs, nothing prevents him to increase the building height. By constructing an additional floor, the owner did not stop there — so that in the end the usual cabin in the woods turned into a 12-story fairytale tower. Build it up is no longer possible: currently the owner decides the question of reinforcement from the wind.
One thing is for sure — unlike the wooden skyscraper of Arkhangelsk, this was demolished. Local authorities do not care that citizens construct on their private plots.
The unofficial title of "doctor seuss" the tower was in honor of the famous American children's writer and cartoonist Theodor seuss Geisel: in the pages of his books can be found the same whimsical illustrations.
The building, though, and is a private property, open to the public; the road from Talkeetna takes only half an hour. To the largest city of Alaska, anchorage, the distance is 210 kilometers.published
P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
