Jar with Christmas mood: tangerine jam

 

The smell of the new year. Of course, Soviet childhood smelled of tangerines and a tree. Tangerines even more. So, not too orange, sometimes even green, Abkhazian, aromatic, seedless.

It is then we stuck on the fridge black diamonds with the inscription "Maroc", Squirting in the air bright orange thick rind, dirtying the fingers and all around. But it was "wrong" tangerines because their smell was not the smell of our holiday. And then there were a variety of orange fruit, brought from distant countries, but every year we will buy for the new year, Abkhaz tangerines...

But they make a delicious, Sunny and a gentle jam, which you can just give to friends for the New year. We think it's very nice and cozy gift.

Tangerine marmalade
 

  • 1 kg of peeled tangerine slices
  • 1 lemon, zest and juice
  • 1 orange, zest of
  • 500 g sugar
  • 1 package gelfix (gelling agent based on pectin) weight 40 g
Wash and sterilize a small jar under the jam. Tangerine wash, peel. With a sharp knife carefully cut each slice and cut from it the flesh. Of course, you can chop the slices in a blender and strain, but we decided to clear them from harsh films.

Finely grate the zest of orange and lemon, from a lemon to squeeze the juice. The flesh is tangerine slices to put into the pot for jam, add the lemon juice, add zest. Mix gelfix with two tablespoons of sugar, add it to the pan, stir and put on medium heat. Stirring, bring to a boil, add remaining sugar, increase the heat and cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes after boiling. Pour into jam jars, close the lids, turn them upside down and leave to cool. published
