Spicy cutlets made with lentils and bulgur

Today we have the menu recipe spiced cakes of lentils and bulghur. We gave a new sound to this traditional dish by adding cheese.

For 4 servings:

  • 100 g red lentils
  • 80 g bulgur
  • 1 medium onion
  • 50-70 g of cheese
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 350 ml of water
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground sweet paprika
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt, freshly ground black pepper
  • medium bunch of cilantro
For serving:

  • 1 lemon
  • pomegranate seeds
  • lettuce
Finely chop the onion. In skillet, heat olive oil and fry the onions. Season with cumin, stir, cook 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the tomato paste and sweet paprika, stir.
In a pan add red lentils to fill it with water. Bring to boil, reduce heat and cook under cover for 10 minutes. Then add the bulgur and cook for another 10 minutes until cooked cereals.

Chop cilantro and add to the lentils with bulgur, season with salt and pepper and leave to cool. Then again mix well.
Cheese cut into small cubes. From the cooled mixture to form small balls, about the size of a walnut, in the middle of each put a piece of cheese.
Prepared lentil balls to put on the lettuce. Serve with slices of lemon, sprinkled with pomegranate seeds.
