Google has patented ways of communicating unmanned vehicles with pedestrians

Washington Post обратил attention on one of the last of patents Google. In it the company фиксирует ways in which unmanned vehicles will exchange signals with pedestrians so that people can clearly understand the future intentions of driving. In fact, we are talking about that on the side doors, front and rear bumpers and roof of the car will be the special screens, which will display the current state of the AGV in terms of its interaction with pedestrians.

Itself underlying reason of such patent is to replace the driver living in a case where the unmanned vehicle and pedestrian inevitably meet. For example, if the AGV stopped at a red light, then its information screens on the perimeter of the vehicle is displayed special character to notify pedestrians that the system is waiting until it will go the way is not going to go up to that time. About screens can also display a sign «STOP», a sign banning the movement of pedestrians or just some text. All this will allow pedestrians to have feedback to the control system and the unmanned vehicle to be sure which operation AGV performs at the moment.

Also quite obvious for such a situation, screens, Google has provided the use of a speaker for a similar purpose - to inform pedestrians voice that he, for example, can cross the road in front of standing AGV. But other than that, the search giant also provides for a robotic arm and an eye, which can communicate with pedestrians using gestures. However, no sketches of how such a situation might look like in reality, the patent does not contain.

It should be noted that the idea similar to Google patent, previously shown as Nissan. For example, the driver has the ability to politely show the pedestrian that he is waiting for him:
