Russia is on the 2nd place in the world in terms of premature death due to excessive salt intake
Excessive salt intake caused more than two million deaths from cardiovascular disease in the world in 2010, the year, 40% of which were premature. This is the conclusion, researchers from the American Heart Association.
Under the "Global study of pregnancy and disease" in 2010 was attended by 50 scientists and 247 children from different countries. At a recent meeting in New Orleans public has been given the statistics.
On average, adults consume 4,000 mg of sodium a day. The main sources of sodium - plain table salt, soy sauce or ready spices that are added to food during cooking. This is twice the WHO recommended standards - 2000 mg per day.

- Among the 30 largest countries, the highest death rate from excessive consumption of salt per million adults in the Ukraine (2109), Russia (1803) and Egypt (836).
- Among all surveyed countries (187 in total), the lowest death rate from excessive consumption of salt per million adults in Qatar (73), Kenya (78), and the United Arab Emirates (134).
- 84% of deaths occur in countries with Low- and middle-income countries.
- Kenya was the only country where respondents adhere to the recommended standards of 2000 mg per day per person.
- The highest proportion of deaths due zaserdechno disease associated with sodium-free diets observed in the Philippines, Myanmar and China.
