On such simulators astronauts are trained to land on the lunar surface. Turbojet thrust created in the center of 5/6 in weight trainer; the rest came from the missile.
NASA built two copies of the same model, and three - the other. The trial broke three copies; all pilots ejected, including Neil Armstrong.
